Martagon Lilies For Shade!

Our Martagon Lilies are finally blooming! I planted them fall before last, but last year they just sent up stems with no flowers. Apparently that is par for the course with this type of Lily. This year, though, there are bountiful orange flowers with maroon markings. and brick-red anthers. This variety is called ‘Sunny Morning’.

Let Us Now Praise Golden Ragwort

In the spring of 2019 I planted 5 plugs of Golden Groundsel (Packera aurea, also known by the less appealing common name of Golden Ragwort) in our shady Back Garden. Some two years later, Judy and I are happy with the results.

Am I Crazy to Plant Japanese Anemones?

People have told me that I was crazy to plant Japanese Anemones (Anemone x hybrida), that I was opening my garden to an uncontrollable thug. But I did it anyway.
