Jason and Judy, I’m enjoying your one photo posts… feel like I’m walking (running?) through Japan alongside you. Lucky you, to have this second trip and to see so many interesting places.
So much to see in Kyoto alone, we’ve barely scratched the surface! Yesterday we paid for a guided walking tour, and learned so much more than we would have on our own.
Enjoy your trip and I hope you miss the typhoon!
Due to my husband’s work and schoolstart in Germany we had to fly back to Germany about a week ago. Now I’m curious about your reports.
The clouds in this photo are the precursors of the typhoon, which held off until we were safely inside our hotel. We heard quite a rainstorm overnight, but the next day the sun was out with little sign of the storm, neither puddles nor branches down. Seems like the worst of it hit Okinawa, and then went north of us.
Awesome shot, especially at that speed! Would enjoy discussing your thoughts and highlights of the trip after you guys get back. What a great experience!
Envious! Go visit the Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto – I wrote the marketing copy, but as usual never get to actually visit the property. It’s set on the vestige of an historic Japanese garden, and has a cool bar overlooking the pond. Have a drink for me.

It looks like you are in an airplane but much closer to the ground. Beautiful fields/country side.
Amazing clouds.
Wow that is beautiful!
Oh, enjoy! I just love travelling by train, you get such a great feel for the place. Those mountains look rather majestic.xxx
