So guess what. Judy and I are going to New York City for a few days and I have to get ready, so this will be a short post.
But I will say that our ‘Conca d’Or’ lilies are blooming, which is nice.
Conca d’Or are Orienpets, a hybrid of Oriental and Trumpet lilies. They are tall and very fragrant.
Most of them are in the Sidewalk Border, growing up through the ‘Raspberry Wine’ Monarda.
There’s also one left here in the Driveway Border, though there used to be three. You can see the ‘Eye-yi-yi’ Daylilies and the Winecups (Calirhoe bushii) are still blooming, and the Yellow Coneflowers (Ratibida pinnata) are getting started.
I’ll close with another of Judy’s Chickadee videos. Here we can see the fledglings are a lot bigger and are very insistent about being fed. Enjoy.
I’m planning to mostly ignore the blog while we’re gone, but I may post a photo or two. This is the first trip we’ve taken in a couple of years, so I am both anxious and excited.
Until next time, be well!
What wonderful news! Enjoy your trip. A friend managed to fly to Boston recently and had not a single problem with luggage, connections, cancellations, etc. etc. I hope the same for you two!
You might want to check out Little Island in the Hudson River not far from the Chelsea Market and the High Line. We were there 2 weeks ago and timed bookings were required after 12 noon — but walk right in if you go in the morning (it opens at 6am).
Love the lilies, and I hope you have a marvelous trip with zero issues. If you are on Instagram, let me know how to find you in case you post some NYC shots. 🙂
Those lilies are awesome!
Everything looks beautiful there. Our lilies were a little stunted this year with the heat, and the hollyhocks will bear no blooms. The buds were all dried and brown, the plants only half height.
I love the chickadee video. We see some here, too.
Have a great trip, stay safe, and enjoy NY. That lily is beautiful!
Enjoy New York City. Loving your chickadee update and those orienpet lilies. Unfortunately, I find the smell of some lilies to be noxious (ditto for Ziva paperwhites and some late lilacs) and I tend to stay away from non-daylily lilies. I wonder if Orienpet lilies will affect me that way, because yours are gorgeous!
I could almost smell those lilies. Love the video of the chickadees. Have fun on your trip to NYC,
Gorgeous lilies, I can just imagine the fragrance. Enjoy your time away in the Big Apple!
I see all those lilies as waving a bon voyage to you both. Have a wonderful time!
Wishing you both a lovely trip full of whatever you wish for.
I love that lily and most certainly will look for it when I shop for fall bulbs (which I guess should be soon!). Best wishes on your trip. I hope you’re able to enjoy yourselves fully in NYC.
Have a wonderful trip to NYC! And I loved your lilies, too.
Lovely to see your gorgeous lilies again. Have a wonderful holiday.
Have a great time in New York, and takes lots of photos for future posts.
Have a Great Time!
Lilies are really making a show it it right now – love it! Have a great time in NYC – I’m envious!
Wow ! those lilies are gorgeous ! .. I am disheartened with the lily beetle getting ahead of me at this point but I just saw a Muscadet in the garden and I am loving it. I just have to be more disciplined with the neem oil ! .. Love seeing the chickadee family !
Have a great time on your trip !
Enjoy your trip! What a beautiful lily, I can imagine how lovely it smells. How cute is that video!xxx
Have a great time in the Big Apple (do people still say that?)! I love your nest of chickadees. Amelia
The lilies are beautiful. Have a fun trip!
Bon Voyage. The lilies are gorgeous – and I know you will have a gorgeous time in NYC.
Your lilies are incredible, and the video delightful! I hope you’ll have a wonderful time in NYC. I can’t wait to hear about it when you get back!
Glorious lilies. I hope you are having a great time in NYC. I’ve always wanted to see the High Line and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Hope you and Judy have a great trip. The chickadees are wonderful. The lilies are pretty nice. It’s been a good year for lilies.
Hello Jason, I hope you and Judy both have a great trip. Your lilies are amazing as well!
It’s hard to leave the garden in summer and especially so when lilies are blooming as well as these, but I can’t think of a much better reason than a trip to New York. I love the city, but haven’t been there for many years. I hope you had a wonderful time.
Somehow I missed this post. Ah, WordPress! Bon voyage!
